Michael Duwayne Moore, 64, of Wanblee, S.D., passed away May 10, 2020, in Martin.
Michael Duwayne Moore was born on December 13, 1955, in Rosebud, to Milton Alvin Moore, Sr. and Mildred Ann (Giroux) Moore. Michael made his journey to the Spirit World on May 10, 2020, at the Bennett County Hospital in Martin. He was a Marine Corps Veteran.
Michael is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jewel LaVonne Moore; mother-in-law, Mae White Bull; godson, Isaac Sitting Up; brothers, Gary Moore, Brian and Ben Sitting Up, Joseph Rooks, and Gene Giroux; sisters, Lyla Moore, and Audra and Janice Sitting Up; granddaughters, Alyvia and Kaedence Sitting Up; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Milton A. Moore, Sr.; mother, Mildred A Giroux; brothers, Milton A. “Jim” Moore, Jr. and Charles R. “Chuck” Moore; sister, Joyce M. Moore; and nephew/son, Lenny Sitting Up.
A one night wake service started at 12:00 p.m., Monday, May 18, at the Moore Residence located at 242 Cluster Housing in Wanblee.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 19, at the Moore Residence located at 242 Cluster Housing in Wanblee, with Cyrus Black Elk officiating, and Mr. Calvin Red Elk and Mr. Ernest Red Elk performing the traditional Lakota services.
