Patricia Briana Bad Wound, 49, of Rapid City, S.D., passed away July 10, 2020 in Rapid City.
Patricia Briana Bad Wound “Ta TaSunke Luta Wi” (Red Horse Owner), was born on January 20, 1971, in Hot Springs to Jimmy Charles Bad Wound and Sandra Witt. Patricia made her journey to the Spirit World on July 10, 2020, at her home in Rapid City.
Patricia is survived by her mother, Sandra Witt, Salem, Ore.; daughter, Margaret (James Sr.) Osborne, Salem; eight grandchildren; siblings, Timothy (Heather) Witt, Salem, Gayla Loafer, Rapid City, Trina (Steve) Wilson, Lincoln City, and Antoinette (Virgil) Poafpybitty, Oglala; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Patricia was preceded in death by her grandparents, James and Agnes (Fire Thunder) Bad Wound, Nathaniel Witt Sr., and Geraldine Distribution; father, Jimmy Charles Bad Wound; uncles, Nathaniel Witt Jr., Lawrence Witt, Francis Witt, Nelson Witt, James Witt, Patrick Witt and Sidney Witt; aunts, Mary Ann (Witt) Kapicka, Eugena Bettelyoun, and Mary Ann Bad Wound; and nieces, Anna Maria Brewer and Jessica Bad Wound.
A one night wake service started at 3:00 p.m., Monday, July 20, at the Bad Wound Residence located on BIA 9 Northeast of the American Horse School in Allen.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 21, at the Bad Wound Residence located on BIA 9 Northeast of the American Horse School in Allen, with Mr. Mike Cross performing the traditional Lakota services.
Burial services were held at the St. John of the Cross Cemetery in Allen.
