Brandon Lee Bettelyoun “Tatuye Topa Hoksila,” 38, of Pine Ridge, S.D., passed away October 12, 2020, in Pine Ridge.
Brandon Lee Bettelyoun was born on September 3, 1982, in Pine Ridge, to Earlene Rooks and George Bettelyoun, Sr. Brandon made his journey to the Spirit World on October 12, 2020, in Pine Ridge.
Brandon is survived by his mother, Earlene Rooks; children, Kellin Short Horn, Heaven Bettelyoun, Justes Poor Bear, Leilani McLaughlin, Josiah, Siri and Kennoy Brave Heart; siblings, George, Jr., Patrick, Wayne, Tallon, Brandi, Lindsey, and Lacey Bettelyoun, Tony Yellow Elk, Louis and Joshua Macias, Ronald and Yvonne Bear Stops, Shawn, Paul, Lisa and Thenda Zimiga, Frank Rogers, Megan, Kanisha, Tamera, Anna and Candida Rooks, Shantai Philbrick and Steph Big Crow; godparents, Hobert and Georgia Zimiga; special friend, Brianna Brave Heart; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Brandon was preceded in death by his father, George Bettelyoun, Sr.; grandparents, Irma Bear Stops, Jesse Running Bear, Eugenia and Ross Bettelyoun; brother, James McLaughlin; and aunt, Norma Philbrick.
A two night wake service will be held starting at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 24, at the TNT Building in Wanblee, with evening prayers at 7:00 p.m. each night.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 26, at the TNT Building in Wanblee, with Lay Minister Anthony Wounded Head, Sr. and Lay Reader Mona Vocu officiating and Mr. Richard Moves Camp performing the traditional Lakota services.
Burial services will be held at the Gethsemane Episcopal Cemetery in Wanblee.
