Wilbert Louis Means, 46, of Allen, S.D., passed away October 14, 2020, in Rapid City.
Wilbert Louis Means was born on August 11, 1974, in Denver, Colo. to Louis Martin Means, Sr. and Janice Karen Mesteth. Wilbert made his journey to the Spirit World on October 14, 2020, at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City.
Wilbert is survived by his daughters, Miyah and Priscilla Means; special friend, Janice Sitting Bear; siblings, Frank (Consuelo) Means, Louis Means, Jr., Sarah (Roger) Means, Samantha Means, Anthony Hernandez, Jeffrey “Dale” Bad Wound, Julie Bad Wound, Crystal Whirlwind Horse, Chiffon Waters, Michael Salomon; adopted brothers, Monte Yellow Hair, Waylon Gaddie, Lyle and George Respects Nothing; godparents, Marvin Bad Wound and Donna Salomon; grandmother, Emma Waters; aunts, uncles and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Louis, Sr. and Janice Means; sisters, Sherri Means and Priscilla E. Means; aunts/uncles, Lavera Mesteth, Verdell Mesteth, Nelson Mesteth and Phillip Waters; grandparents, Leroy Waters and Madeline Bull Bear; and grandson, Michael Means.
Visitation services were held from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 19, at the St. John of the Cross Community Building East of Allen.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 19, at the St. John of the Cross Community Building East of Allen, with Pastor Tim Wardell officiating and Mr. Steve DuBray performing the traditional Lakota services.
Burial services were held at the Mato Ota Tiospaye Cemetery in Allen.
