Martha “Lucille” Rose passed away in her sleep at home on September 29, 2020. Lucille, as she preferred, was born to Nels and Inez Nelson on October 22, 1949, she joined siblings Kenneth and Christina Marie. After graduating from Bennett County High School, she moved to attend cosmetology school in Scottsbluff, Neb. While there, she met and married Larry Rein, they had one daughter, Kathi. After Larry was killed by a drunk driver, she moved to Box Elder, S.D. where she met and married Howard Croop. They had a son, Casey, and Lucille was stepmom to his three daughters, Donna, Diane, and Denise. Lucille later reconnected with and married her high school sweetheart, Terry Rose, where she also gained two stepsons, Michael and Patrick. They resided in Sturgis, and upon retirement moved to Summerset.
After losing both Larry and daughter Kathi to drunk drivers, Lucille became very involved in MADD.
Lucille is preceded in death by her parents, brother Kenneth Deskins, husbands Larry Rein and Terry Rose, and daughter Kathi Rein. She leaves behind sister Christina Jackson; stepdaughters Donna, Diane and Denise; and stepsons Michael and Patrick Rose; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Inurnment will be at a later date at the Black Hills National Cemetery.
