Sheree Lee Briggs-Marrufo
Sheree Lee Briggs-Marrufo, “Mahpiya Lowan Win,” Singing Cloud Woman, was born on December 6, 2001 in Pine Ridge, S.D. to Antonio Marrufo, Sr. and Donelle Briggs and was raised by her grandmother, Shari Niegel. Sheree made her journey to the Spirit World on January 24, 2021 in Martin.
Sheree is survived by her mother, Donelle Briggs; father, Antonio “Tony” (Stacey) Marrufo, Sr.; siblings, Makayla Briggs, Gracie Briggs, Edward and Brittany Niegel, LaLaina Watkins, Lalissa Watkins, Antonio Marrufo, Jr., Juan Marrufo, Arrianna (Audi) Marrufo, and Aliyanna Marrufo; grandparents, Shari Neigel and Eustacio Marrufo; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Sheree was preceded in death by her brother, Mykhas Briggs; grandparents, Angelina Poor Bear-Reyes, Ira Briggs, Sr., John Briggs, and Johnnie Kay Reddy; great-grandparents, Grace Good Shield-Briggs, Edson Briggs II, Cecelia White-Steele, Julia Lone Wolf, and Theodore Poor Bear; and numerous aunts and uncles.
A one night wake service was held starting at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, January 28, at the Old American Legion in Martin with Rosary services starting at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 29, at the Old American Legion in Martin, with Pastor Tim Wardell and Deacon Cal Clifford officiating and Hawkeye Montileaux performing the traditional Lakota services.
Burial services were held at the Allen Community Cemetery in Allen.
