Kelly Vernon Cedar Face “Mato’ Iciya’”, 33, of Pine Ridge, S.D., passed away April 8, 2021, in Pine Ridge.
Kelly Vernon Cedar Face was born on August 13, 1987, in Pine Ridge, to Willard Buckman-Center and Mary Cedar Face. Kelly made his journey to the Spirit World on April 8, in Pine Ridge.
Kelly is survived by his mother, Mary Cedar Face; sister, Meredith Sahme; aunts and uncles, Clara (Curtis) Cedar Face, Frances Cedar Face, Paul Cedar Face, and Fred ”giggie” Cedar Face; cousins, Paul “Honeyboy” Cedar Face, Monice Cortez, Toni Morton, Pamela “Penny” End of Horn, Skenna Cedar Face-Garcia, Sarah Cedar Face, Cody Morton, Jessica Cedar Face, Casey Morton, Cheryl Cedar Face-Byrd, Annie Valandra, Clarissa Cedar Face, and Mark Cedar Face; 25 nieces, nephews; and eight grandchildren.
Kelly was preceded in death by his stepfather, Jim Sahme; maternal grandparents, Paul and Edith (Red Shirt) Cedar Face; cousins, Stacy Cedar Face and DeAnn Bluebird-Cedar Face, uncle and aunt, Tom and Karen Morton.
A one night wake service began at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 16, at Joyner Hall, in Pine Ridge, SD
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 17, at Joyner Hall, Pine Ridge with Mr. Albino Garcia, Jr., performing the traditional Lakota services.
Burial services were held at the Christ Church Episcopal Cemetery, Red Shirt Table.
