Francis White Dress, Jr.

Francis Alouysius White Dress, Jr., 57, was born on June 12, 1964, in Pine Ridge to Francis White Dress, Sr. and Adeline Sun Bear-White Dress. Our precious dad, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend left us July 16, 2021, in Sioux Falls.

Francis is survived by his daughter Autumn White Dress; sons Trevor White Dress, Francis White Dress III, and Michael White Dress; siblings Mary (Ted) Lame, Sr., Cynthia (Donovan) White Dress, Lucille White Dress, Wallace (Delphine) White Dress, Taylor White Dress, Boyd Alou White Dress, John (Bessie) White Dress, Edward White Dress, Jr., Georgette Red Shirt, Amelia (Steve) White Dress, Jolene (Brennan) Ten Fingers, and Debbie White Dress; nieces Elthea Lame and daughters Angelina, Kaitlyn, and Keisha Janis, Luta Thunder Hawk and family, Mary (Wayne) Thunder Hawk and family, Carrie (Adam) Thunder Hawk and family, Ahlisha Thunder Hawk and family, Belle (William) Blue Bird and family, Catherine (Jason) Blue Bird and family, Layla White Dress, Adeline White Dress and family, and Christina White Dress; nephews Theordore Lame, Jr., Larry (Amber) Lame and family, Francis Ryan Lame, Andy (Marcie) Thunder Hawk and family, Richard Blue Bird, William (Andrea) Blue Bird and family, Wallace White Dress, Jr. and family, Willis (Jamie) White Dress and family, and Byron White Dress; and grandchildren, Dawson White Dress, Lilian White Dress, and Aiyanna White Dress.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents Francis White Dress, Sr. and Adeline Sun Bear-White Dress; siblings Janice Sun Bear, Geraldine White Dress, and Richard White Dress; aunts Rachel White Dress and Pearl White Dress; uncle Edward White Dress, Sr.; nieces Emily Blue Bird, Frankie White Dress, Catherine Crooked Eyes and Loreli Rose Lame; nephews Asa Blue Bird and Michael Crooked Eyes, and grandchildren Shirley Fresquez and Stacey White Dress.

A one-night wake service will be starting at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 23, at the Little Wound House of Prayer in Little Wound. Roll call will start at 9:00 p.m. with the Paha Sapa Akicita Okolaciye and all Veterans. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 24, also at the Little Wound House of Prayer in Little Wound. Fr. Ron Seminara will be officiating and Traditional Lakota Services will be performed by Mr. Mike Little Boy. Burial services will take place at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, July 24, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Cemetery in Little Wound.
