Lady Warriors claim overtime win in Lyman

Bennett County snapped an early season losing streak at three by rallying in the fourth quarter to defeat Lyman Saturday in Presho, 28-27.

Both teams struggled offensively, resulting in the low scoring contest. Bennett County led 4-1 after one quarter and Lyman led 9-7 at the half.

Things were not looking good for Bennett County as they trailed 18-9 heading into the final quarter, but things started clicking offensively and they scored 13 fourth quarter points to tie the game at 22. In the overtime, they pulled out the one point win.

Taylor Kratovil scored 11 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to lead the Lady Warriors. Taryn Lessert added 6 points and 4 rebounds. Lexie Amiotte scored 6 and pulled down 5 rebounds. Autumn Kamerzell added 3 points, 6 assists and 6 rebounds. Megan Slattery had 2 points, 8 rebounds; Lindsay Johnson scored 1 point and added 2 rebounds and Sabrina Fanning scored 2 and had 1 rebound.

The JV lost 19-17. Rachel Winters scored 6, Kimmy Scherer 4, Shauntea Gilbert 4 and Maize Bettelyoun 2.

Against Gordon-Rushville Friday evening, the Lady Warriors second quarter shooting woes put them in a deep hole as they scored just three points and trailed 20-10 at the break. 

The visiting Mustangs broke out to an early 5-0 lead  before Bennett County tied it at 5 on a Three pointer by Autumn Kamerzell and  a Megan Slattery score. After Taylor Kratovil cut the lead to two at 9-7, the Lady Mustangs scored six straight points to lead 15-7 early in the second quarter.

After a Kamerzell three pointer made it 15-10, Gordon-Rushville scored the final five points of the first half for the 20-10 lead.

An old fashioned three pointer by Taryn Lessert and a steal and layup by Kamerzell made it a 20-15 game early in the third.

Gordon-Rushville out-scored Bennett County 12-7 to end the third, putting them on top 32-22.

Bennett County put up just nine fourth quarter points to 13 for the visitors and the Lady Mustangs won 45-31. 

Taryn Lessert and Autumn Kamerzell scored 10 points each, followed by Lexie Amiotte at 5, Taylor Kratovil 4 and Megan Slattery 2.
