The Lady Warriors hosted the White River Lady Tigers in high school volleyball in Martin Sept. 6, earning a hard fought three sets to none win.
It was all White River early as they raced to a 13-0 lead, putting Bennett County in a deep hole in set one. A kill by Bennett County’s Laine Link stopped the Tigers streak.
After a 14-3 White River lead, the Lady Warriors settled in, and led by big blocks from Jessica Begeman and Laska Ward, they would go on to tie the set at 17. White River led 23-18, but the Lady Warriors battled and ended up taking the set, 26-24, on a big kill by senior Jessica Begeman. Begeman had several key powerful serves in the match that helped the Warriors erase the large Tiger lead.
Set two was fairly close all the way, with the Lady Warriors pulling that one out 25-19.
In set three, it was back and fourth from beginning to end, but Bennett County zoned in late to pull out a 25-23 win. Begeman and Laska Ward had kills late in the match and Lily Alexander was solid serving for Bennett County to help lead the way.
The Warriors were solid serving all night as a team.
Bennett County travels to New Underwood Sept. 13, Lyman the 15th and are at the Belle Fourche tournament Sept. 22.
