Bennett County hosted Rapid City Christian January 17 in high school boys basketball action, falling 60-23.
The Comets started the game with hot hands putting up the first shot. Warrior Senior DeAndre Cottier answered right back with a short jumper from the lane. Rapid City Christian went on a 26-0 run, making five three-pointers. With 29 seconds left in the first quarter, DeAndre Cottier busted a long range 3 to put the score 30-5 at the end of the quarter.
Back to back threes added to the Comet’s lead, making it 36-5. Bennett County held tight defense the second quarter, keeping the Comets to ten points. A jumper from Riley Mesteth was the only Warrior points in the quarter and made it a 38-7 game at the half.
The third quarter was the biggest scoring run for the Warriors with DeAndre Cottier putting up 2 threes and Dante Loafer adding a three. The Warriors put up a lot of shots but couldn’t get anything to fall, making it 50-16 going into the fourth.
Warrior defense again held the Comets to ten points posting a 60-23 game.
Bennett County scoring:
DeAndre Cottier 11, Dante Loafer 3, Tristan Richards, Braden Louden, Noah Kills in Sight and Riley Mesteth all added 2 and Chuckie Cottier contributed one.
Top scoring for Rapid City Christian came from Sam Schlabach 16 and Jack Roisum 8.
Rapid City Christian also won the JV matchup, coming out on top 48-13.
Mitch Heidecker led RC Christian, with 13 points.

Alex Little White Man 4, Noah Kills in Sight 3, Braden Louden, Tristan Richards and Sage Flye each added 2.
The Warriors will take on Little Wound this Thursday in Martin, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
