Lady Warriors end season in first round of Regions

The Bennett County Lady Warriors ended their season in Pine Ridge on Monday, November 4, against Red Cloud in the first round of Region 7A play.
The first set was a game of serves, and lots of missed serves from both squads kept the game close. Smart and scrappy plays from Red Cloud helped them push ahead to a 17-12 lead. A kill from Laney Fanning turned the momentum for the Lady Warriors, and with the help of a big block from Laska Ward they brought the score 22-23. Good kills from Ward and big digs from the Warrior back row pushed BC to win the first set 26-24.
In the second set the Lady Warriors started out on fire. Serves from Chloe Risse and Joselyn Cummings pushed the Warriors to a 12-6 lead. Kills from Nicole Porch, Risse and Emma Byrne kept the point gap growing. Late in the set, Red Cloud found their steam and came back, and the Lady Warriors with a six point run ending the set 25-21 in Red Cloud’s favor.
Having lost their momentum, the Lady Warriors struggled in the third set. The Lady Warriors set the ball up well and big plays helped them stay close to the cool Lady Crusaders but Red Cloud took the set 25-18.
The fourth set belonged to Red Cloud. The Lady Warriors battled but fell 25-14 to end their season.
Red Cloud will travel to Winner on Thursday to take on the Winner Lady Warriors for their chance at an appearance at SoDak 16.
