Bennett County wrestling season underway
By Coach Brent Ireland
This past week we had two wrestling events. First, on Tuesday we went to Pine Ridge. It was a good opportunity to wrestle against someone besides ourselves and I thought we wrestled well for our first time out. I don’t have the results yet.
On Saturday we traveled to Ft. Pierre for the Stanley County Invite. Competing were Burke/Gregory (209), Pierre JV (163.5), Stanley Co (129), Bennett Co (127), Lyman (117), Mobridge-Pollock (102), Potter Co (79), Ipswich/Leola (74), Cheyenne-Eagle Butte (49), Todd Co (48), Faith (24), Lemmon/McIntosh (14), Lower Brule (13). Overall, another good outing for our team. We are early in the season and have some things to work on for sure but, given the competition and narrowly missing third place (out of 13 teams), it feels like we are definitely headed in the right direction with this group.
I would select Ty Allen as our wrestler of the week. In the finals at Stanley County he defeated an opponent who had pinned Ty in both of their matches last year!
