Randy Gropper may be new to  Main Street in Martin but he has been in the saddle making business for 38 years.

When asked what brings him to Martin, Randy smiled and answered, a slower pace of life and a homesick wife! His wife, Michelle lived in the Allen area for 24 years previously and this feels like home to her.

James Farley sentenced to 5 years in prison

James Farley, 62, of rural Bennett County, was sentenced Nov. 24, 2015, to be incarcerated in the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls for five years, with seven days credit for time served in the county jail.

Farley pled guilty to Count 9, Promoting Prostitution of a Minor, a Class 5 Felony.

Lady Warriors face Pine Ridge in Region Opener

Bennett County travels to Pine Ridge Tuesday, Feb. 23, for the Region 7A first round in girls high school basketball play, with tipoff at 6:30 p.m. MT.

Bennett County wrestlers had a good day on the mats Saturday at the Region 4B Wrestling Tournament in Ft. Pierre. Five wrestlers advanced to the State B Wrestling Tournament this Friday and Saturday in Rapid City, but 10 of the 11 wrestler scored points and 10 of them were one match away from making it to state.

Land owner, Lacreek Refuge locking horns over locked gate

Bennett County rancher and land owner John Slattery, and management at the Lacreek National Wildlife Refuge, are locking horns over a locked gate and the matter was brought to the Bennett County commissioners Nov. 18, by Slattery.
