Cross country competes at Douglas for first meet

The Bennett County Cross Country team ran at the Douglas meet on Friday, August 25. There were 15 schools at the meet. 

Boys varsity ran a 5K. There were 56 runners with a winning time of 16:38.

Warriors shut down Mustangs 25-0

Bennett County traveled to Kyle last Friday to face the Little Wound Mustangs in high school football action, playing in the first night game every at the school. The Mustangs held their first game on their new field, complete with new lights, but the visiting Warriors used a strong defensive effort to take a 25-0 win.

Fanning competes in Calgary Stampede, finishing third in first go

Girls basketball game postponed

The Bennett County High School girls basketball game against Cheyenne-Eagle Butte scheduled for Tues. Dec. 27, has been postponed because CEB is unable to make it because of weather and roads. It has been rescheduled to Mon., Jan. 30 with JV starting at 5:00 and followed by Varsity.

The South Dakota State High School Rodeo Finals was a huge success for six local cowboys and cowgirls. Tee Allen, Lyle Dillon, Lante Swallow, Carson Good, Mary Risse, and Karissa Rayhill all earned trips to Gillette, Wyo. July 13-22, for the National High School Finals Rodeo.

Tee Allen takes seventh in High Jump at State Track and Field Meet

Several Bennett County athletes competed in the South Dakota State Class A Track and Field Meet last Friday in Tea and Saturday in Sioux Falls, with Tee Allen the lone Warrior placer with a seventh in the high jump, clearing 6’1.”

Garrett Hodson finished 17th in the 110 hurdles with a time of 19.14.

Winter, Byrne, Nelson claim titles at Gordon-Rushville Wrestling Tourn.

Bennett County finished third as a team, just one point out of second, in the Gordon-Rushville Wrestling Tournament Saturday in Gordon. The Warriors brought home three championships, Clarence Winter at 113, Tyler Byrne at 182 and James Nelson at 195.
